BECOME A PAA
PAAs are all UCI undergraduate students who apply to these prestigious positions. The Peer Academic Advising Program is highly selective, but looks for new PAAs every year.
All juniors and seniors with a genuine desire to help other students are invited and eligible to apply for a peer academic advisor position. (Sophomores may apply for consideration in their junior year.) You should also possess advanced communication skills, thorough knowledge of your major and the campus, and evidence of scholastic achievements.
Applications are available in the academic counseling offices of each school, in the Division of Undergraduate Education in 256 Aldrich Hall, or online starting late fall quarter or early winter quarter. The deadline for applying is late January. Interviews are conducted over a period of two to three weeks, and final selections are made in late February. If you have any additional questions about the application process, contact Melissa White, Peer Academic Advising Program Coordinator, at (949) 824-2367.
By applying, you will have the opportunity to further your public speaking and communication skills, as well as expand your knowledge of UCI's services and opportunities. You will gain valuable leadership, organizational, and social skills to help you achieve further success at UCI and in your future endeavors. But, above all, you will assume one of the most respected paid student positions on the UCI campus and will provide a valuable service to other undergraduates. |
