HONORS PROGRAMS
UCI offers many challenging and enriching honors opportunities to its most motivated students. These include the comprehensive Campuswide Honors Program, which enrolls outstanding students from all majors from the freshman through senior years; a variety of major-specific honors programs at the upper-division level; the Humanities Honors Program, also offered at the upper-division level, but open to all majors on campus; and several Excellence in Research programs.
- The Campuswide Honors Program (CHP) offers talented and successful students an academic experience combining the creativity of a major research university with the personal attention found in the best liberal arts colleges; we seek to offer the best undergraduate education possible anywhere. Advantages include a specialized honors curriculum, small classes, honors senior theses, faculty-mentored research, individualized advising, and extra-curricular activities.
- Phi Beta Kappa is the nation's oldest and most prestigious honor society. While not officially a program of DUE, our staff can answer your questions concerning the UC Irvine chapter.
- Major-specific honors programs and Excellence in Research programs are available through UCI’s schools for qualified junior- and senior- level students. Contact the undergraduate counseling office of the school in which you are interested to find out more. See Academics and Research on the UC Irvine homepage.
We asked last fall's new Honor's Freshmen and Dean's Honor Roll Transfer students to tell us who at their former institution had the greatest influence on their academic development and their decision to come to UCI. Check out our "Educator's Wall of Fame" to see who they selected and what they had to say about them. If you made the Dean's Honor roll in your first quarter at UCI this fall, you'll get the chance to add your favorite teacher to this list!
