The First-Year Integrated Program (FIP) is
a year-long experience for freshmen that
introduces students to the ways
3 different disciplines approach similar topics.
Program participants are
also brought into
a unique learning community
including faculty from different disciplines,
graduate teaching assistants,
and first-year students.
FIP sequence students will be with the
same 3-4 faculty, 2 graduate TA's and classmates
for the entire year!
Only 80 students are accepted into the
First-Year Integrated Program
per course sequence
each year.
Successful completion of a
three-course sequence will satisfy four (or more!)
general education (GE) requirements
including the second quarter of the
lower-division
writing GE requirement with
a capstone research writing component.
The only pre-requisite for FIP
is that you
have satisfied
the
Entry Level Writing Requirement
by Fall 2012.
To complete your lower division writing requirement
at UCI, you'll need to also sign up for Writing 39B for
either Fall 2012 or Winter 2013.

We have a series of
program learning goals for
students
who take
FIP sequences in
addition to those
each of
the teaching
teams has for their
particular topic.

program goals here...
