OVERVIEW
Are you looking for a small college experience at the big university?
The First-Year Integrated Program (FIP) is a year-long experience for freshmen that introduces you to the ways different disciplines approach similar topics. Through integrated coursework, participants of the program are also brought into a unique learning experience that revolves around building community among a core group of multi-disciplinary faculty, graduate teaching assistants, and students early on in their academic careers.
Only 80 students are accepted into the First-Year Integrated Program per course sequence per year. Successful completion of the three-quarter program will satisfy four courses toward partial fulfillment of different breadth requirement categories. One of these four courses includes satisfaction of the second quarter of the lower-division writing breadth requirement by means of a capstone research writing component to be completed in the third quarter. |
